How to use these pages

These web cards contain the genealogy of Skaterow, 1 791 people to date. The earliest record is a birth about 1720. I have chosen not to enter anyone born after 1910 so as not to risk including people alive today. My main interest is what the population looked like when Skaterow was a fishing village. Therefore facts from the 20th century have been included only if I have found them important for the whole.

I have made several limitations to keep the data clear and relevant. I have drawn a line and not gone more than one generation backwards or forwards from people not born in the village. That is to say that all people listed have lived in Skaterow at some time in their lives or had a parent or child that did. The siblings of those who married into the village are not included, unless of course they also moved to Skaterow.

The page Surnames contain a list of all surnames that occur in Skaterow. When you choose a surname in the list you are then able to choose an individual in the Index. Unfortunately the index does not contain any dates of birth etc. Therefore, if you are looking for an individual with a common name, you will have to look at them one by one to see if any of the dates match.

The web cards containing the genealogy of Skaterow are of two different kinds, family cards and person sheets. When you choose someone in the index you will see that person's family card. The person chosen will be in the middle together with their spouse, parents above and children below. If the spaces are empty they haven't as yet been found. You can go up and down the tree by clicking on the parents and the children to see their family cards.

To go to a particular individual's person sheet, click on the name when it is in the middle of a family card. The person sheet also contains name of spouse, parents and children. You can also find memos and notes that include census records, gravestone inscriptions etc. You can also go directly from there to either parent's or child's person sheet by clicking on them. Observe that the census records for a family is on the person sheet of the head of the household. If a husband has died it will be on the widow's person sheet. When a child stands as head I have duplicated the record and placed it on the person sheet of both child and parent. To return to a person's family card, just use the link Web Family Card at the bottom of the page.

Every fact has a source. If you find one that doesn't or, worse, is inaccurate please don't hesitate to contact me on the e-mail below. Nobody would be more grateful than I.
