From poverty at the dump in Quito to a decent life.
 |
A project to help women and children in need that lived on what they could find at the dump outside the city of Quito in Ecuador.
Aid/Help to self-help. |
Ulla-Brita
Palm initiated the project in 1991 as a consequence of her experiences from a journey to Ecuador where she met these women and children.
Today she has created a day centre for them in collaboration with some supporters/sponsors. The centre houses a kindergarten, a department for newborn babies, well-equipped sewing facilities where the women are being taught the art of sewing, as well as a health centre.
She is steadily busy collecting money needed for the daily activities and the centre’s development. Mrs. Palm visits the centre regularly, and her mission is to give help to self-help.
| From a life in starvation to gain self-respect as these women achieve being able to pay for medical treatment et cetera.
The produce from the sewing performed in the centre has now begun to make it possible to finance a part of the activities. Yet, there is a lot of work left to be done.
